Circle level volleyball competition begins
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Circle level Volleyball competition for men and women organized under the initiative of Banderdewa Circle Officer as part of the 65th Republic Day celebration started at Banderdewa Nyokum ground today.
In total, 18 teams—12 in men’s category, six in women’s category—from various sectors and villages under Banderdewa circle are participating in the competition.

Don’t misuse RTI: PPA
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: While welcoming the state government’s move to strengthen the State Information Commission by inducting four commissioners, PPA president Nikh Kamin regretted the delay and ‘non seriousness attitude adopted by the Govt.’ in tackling the menace of corruption in public life.
Addressing the RTI and vigilance wing of the party headed by Charu Tanam and others from the districts, Kamin questioned the timing of the appointment and urged the Govt. in power not to make the constitutional body a bunch of toothless tigers with no funds for TA, DA, office stationeries, vehicle, staff etc.
Kamin hoped the four newly appointed commissioners with vast experience would do justice to all and prove themselves worthy of the positions. He also urged the Govt. to review its decision to hike the RTI fee from Rs.2 per page to Rs.10 which is probably the highest in the country.
Citing few examples of misuse of RTI Act, party’s chief ministerial candidate Laeta Umbrey urged people of the state that RTI should not be misused and abused for personal benefit.

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: All Abo Matam Kao Welfare Society (AAMKWS) has appealed to the Chief Minister to extend all possible help to the fire victims who lost their relatives and properties in a devastating fire incident at Fengche village on January 15 last. Two persons were charred to death in the fire mishap.
The members of the Society also visited the fire incident site and distributed immediate relief materials and cash to the fire victim family. The PRI members also donated cash and CGI sheet to the victim, the Society said.

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: A social service cum mass awareness program was conducted by members of All Dirang Students' Union (ADSU), The Youths of Dirang market and All Dirang Taxi Welfare Association on January 15 and 16. The drains and road of Dirang Market at West Kameng district, Dirang and its surrounding area was cleaned during the two days social service.

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Three days district level refresher training for medical officers
(MOs) of Upper Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley, Anjaw and Lohit districts on vector
borne diseases and their control was conducted by District Health Society (NVBDCP),

AR joins with public to conduct social service
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Assam Rifles Battalion located at Khonsa along with local people conducted a cleanliness drive at Khonsa Bazar area today.
Five officers, 18 Junior Commissioned Officers and 102 Jawans of Assam Rifles and about 150 local people from Khonsa actively participated in the cleanliness drive. The Medical Officer of Assam Rifles educated the people about importance of proper hygiene and sanitation practices.

First lady of the state Jyotsna Sharma, who interacted with the children during the competition, encouraged them to exhibit their creative and artistic talents. She was very impressed by paintings by the students.

School rally on environmental and water sanitation at Pakke-
SEPPA, Jan 19: In continuation of its policy to make people aware of the ill effects of insanitation and to inculcate the practice of cleanliness, PHED Seppa had organized an awareness rally of school students at Pakke Kessang in East Kameng district on January 17 last.
Around 130 students along their teachers from various schools took part in the rally to spread the message of significance of sanitation in daily life.
A workshop on handling of Field Test Kit (FTK) was also conducted at Circuit house in which PRI members of 5 GPC and VWSC members of various villages participated wholeheartedly.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nyage Geyi, DMO, Seppa spoke in length about the various maladies of unclean water, which he termed as vector borne diseases or simply water borne diseases. He mentioned that apart from cholera, diarrhoea, typhoid fever, polio is also sometimes water borne. He said that drinking boiled water is the safest way to prevent vector borne diseases. He strongly advised villagers to stop the practice of open defecation as it is the root cause of many diseases. He told that pigs should be reared in clean closed enclosures as mosquito which cause Japanese encephalitis (JE) breeds in unhygienic condition along with pigs.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Geyi said that instances of goitre are found now a days due to adulteration in market salts. He told that he will provide some “Iodised Test Kit” for testing iodine contents in salts.

Nurses mourn death of patient, appeals for calm
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: All Trained Nurses' Association of India, Arunachal Pradesh State Branch deeply mourned the death of a patient at Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun on January 8 and expressed deepest sympathy to her family members. “The vacuum so created can never be filled again. We can feel all the pain, the trauma, the sense of hollowness they must be having at this point of time,” the Association said in a release.
Admitting that it is natural to be doubtful and questionable if a patient, who is healthy and stout, dies in a mysterious circumstance, the Association has appealed to the family members of the deceased and well wishers and organizations to have patience. “Let the authorities do its job properly without creating any undue pressure to ensure free and fair justice. It would be more maturely and widely appreciative if they demand for the prompt investigation of the incidence instead of demanding for arrest of the alleged accused,” the Association said.

The Association further said that it is a very serious question to be pondered about that if demand is made for arrest of a nurse who injects a medicine which has been prescribed by a doctor. Then nurses will also have to demand for video injection or video recording of injection and will have to seek undertaking/concern from patient's relatives for injecting a medicine in future to avoid such accusations. Now there is a fear psychosis and a sense of insecurity among the nursing fraternity to give medicines to patients even if they are prescribed by the competent doctors, the Association added.
“We selflessly do our duties even at the time of agitations/strikes at the cost of our own lives. But sadly people never say a word of appreciation when we do good jobs and save thousands of lives but when one in a million dies we are blamed for the death without any logical reasons,” the Association rued.
The association concludes that if alleged nurse and doctor are arrested under pressure without proper investigation this will send a wrong message to the people of the state.
Specify site for public assembly before issuing any ban order: PPA
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Criticizing the Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal for issuing a ban order against staging of dharnas and demonstrations in the premises of Raj Bhavan, CM’s office secretariat etc by political parties, NGOs, students organization etc, PPA vice president Toko Sheetal termed the order as ill conceived and bereft of sound logic.
“Goyal should have atleast suggested the Govt. to identify a proper site for holding of dharnas and demonstrations as is available at national capital as well as in all the state capitals before issuing such an order at the behest of the ruling Govt. He should also know that people do not resort to dharnas to get fun or to pass their time. It is resorted to, only when all constitutionally available means are exhausted and the Govt. fails to deliver justice to its own citizens.”
Demanding an unconditional apology and revocation of the order from Goyal, the PPA leader stated that the non compliance to the desires of the aggrieved citizens, the party will be duty bound to stage such dharnas in the office or residence premises of the DC.
“The malafide intention of the Deputy Commissioner is amply clear by the urgency and hastiness with which the impugned order was issued right after a day of the massive public protest lodged by PPA leadership,” the PPA vice president said.

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Moge Lollen scored in 70th minute to help defending champion Papum Pare down five times champion Lower Subansiri in the first semifinal of the 13th Tadar Tang Memorial State Level Football Tournament at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun today.
Lower Subansiri started on attacking note from the outset creating many scoring opportunities but they somehow failed to score.
After a barren but closely fought first half, Papum Pare exerted pressure on Lower Subansiri in the second half and managed to score in 70th minute through Lollen. He was shown yellow card for removing his jersey after scoring the all important goal.

The bizarre accident which took place at Naharlagun yesterday involving group of
teenager and government vehicle has once again exposed all the wrong things going
in our society. Fortunately no life was lost in the accident but few received grievous
injury. As per report, a Tata Sumo belonging to home department driven by underage
boy rammed into bike on National Highway-
The whole incident shows total carelessness on the part of home department official
whom Tata Sumo was allotted. The government should take proper action against the
officials for his act of negligence. Government department often complains about

On behalf of the people of 20th Tali assembly constituency particularly Pipsorang Circle, I welcome the efforts of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, MPs Mukut Mithi, Takam Sanjay, and MLAs Takam Pario, Bamang Flex for taking pain to visit Tali area for two times in the last two years. They visited to know the ground reality of the area. Everybody asks why people of Tali Constituency are migrating to different place like Daporijo, Ziro and Capital. Simple reason is that there are no proper road connectivity, no proper health care facilities and lack of education opportunity.
